Järviwiki:Privacy notice
This privacy notice provides the information for Lakewiki users referred to in the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 679/2016.
Who we are
Lakewiki service is maintained by the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), which is also responsible for the processing of personal data collected in the service. Contact details can be found at the end of this privacy notice.
What personal data are we collecting and why
When browsing Lakewiki general statistical data on website is collected in order to improve the service. These data include visitor numbers to the site, the user’s IP address, time, pages visited, browser type, operating system used and screen resolution. The collection of visitor statistics is based on server log data and Google Analytics reporting, in which Google Analytics cookies and JavaScript code are used.
Registered users
Collaborating in Lakewiki requires the registration of an user account. During registration users provide an username, password, email address, and optionally a name or nickname.
The username and password are needed for authentication. The email address is used for user verification and for resetting a lost or forgotten password. If a user choose to provide a name or nickname he or she will appear in the service under it instead of the username.
Passwords and email addresses are stored encrypted in the service and are not visible in plain text to anyone, not even to administrators.
If you enable emails from other users in your settings, other Lakewiki users can send you messages. In this case, too, your address will not appear to the sender. However, if you send a message to another user, your email address will be in the email's sender field.
Edits
When you make an edit in Lakewiki, the contents of your change are stored together with you username. Your username or name or nickname will also appear in the public service in connection with the edit on a page's History tab and in the list of editors.
Remember that you are responsible for everything you publish in the Lakewiki. When you write something, assume that it will remain permanently. Deleting text from a page does not completely remove it, as anyone can view previous versions of pages using the History tab.

If you upload images to Lakewiki, please notice that any visitors to the site can download and view possible location data (EXIF GPS). Consider deleting this information before downloading the files.
