It’s fun and you stay informed about the well-being of your nearby waters. There are many ways to be a water researcher and produce relevant content for the wiki. Find yours! Here are a few steps you can take to get started. You can do it today.
1. Take a tour
The first step is to get acquainted with the service and find your own nearby waters. The easiest way is to type the name of the lake or sea area in the search field.
Can you find your nearby waters? Is there anything written about it? Are there active observation sites?
2. Give it a try
Register an account for yourself and start producing content. The Lake-seaWiki has a “Sandbox” where you can try both editing the text and saving the observations.
3. Establish an observation site
If you succeeded in your first step, and found your nearby water, it’s easy to set up an observation site. Go to the page of your nearby water and select the " Add a new location" link below the map.
Linkki avaa lomakkeen, jolla syötät paikkasi tiedot. Kun tallennat lomakkeen, siirryt automaattisesti luomallesi paikkasivulle, ja voit halutessasi aloittaa havaintojen tallentamisen. Jatkossa löydät havaintopaikkasi lähivetesi sivun kartalta tai hakemalla valitsemallasi nimellä.
Havaintopaikka kannattaa perustaa paikkaan, joka on helposti saavutettavissa ja jossa erityyppisten havaintojen tekeminen on helppoa. Valitse mieluummin syvempi ranta, jossa vesi pääsee vapaasti vaihtumaan, jos sinulla on vaihtoehtoja. Havaintoja voi aivan hyvin tehdä myös useammalta paikalta!
4. Aloita seuranta
Ainakin jäätilannetta, pintaveden lämpötilaa ja sinilevätilannetta voi seurata ilman sen ihmeellisempiä välineitä. Näkösyvyyslevyn ja vedenkorkeusasteikon rakentaminen voivat olla seuraavia vaiheita.
